According to this Critical thinker we can get knowledge about understanding what is critical thinking, the benefits that are associated with critical thinking skills as well as personal qualities, know about barriers we can have in the development of the good critical thinking skills as assessing the understanding of critical thinking.
The critical thinking is a process which has to see with several skills and attitudes. We cannot trust everything we read, read or hear from other and take that information as the only truth. It is important to have in account other people's positions, points of view as well as their arguments. We need to evaluate all the evidence, weigh up positions and arguments from the counterpart. Also, we need to read between lines, underneath for discovering false or unfair assumptions. We have to be persuasive arguing for "counterattack" our "opponents". Moreover, we need to reflect on issues and draw conclusions in order to present our own point of view.
She mentions " Critical thinking helps to identify the obvious and hidden messages more accurately, and to understand the process by which an argument is constructed"; all of the prior means that we have to see not only what is on the surface, but also what is immersed into the message written.
Dear Alfredo,
ResponderBorrarIndeed, becoming a critical thinker is a long process that everyone should work on and develop. it is not quite easy to start, though. However, as foreign language educators, we are in a privileged position to foster critical thinking through the activities we design for our classes. By giving students the opportunity to think beyond the information presented in any media source, we will eventually be able to change the current panorama that we evidence everyday.
